Our Merciful Lord, for the second time in less than two weeks, we again come before Your throe of grace to lift another Illinois State Trooper shot in the line of duty.  As we do not know his condition, we seek Your divine intervention upon this trooper and ask You, O’ Lord, to spare his life.  Grant the doctor’s with wisdom and insight to diagnose and treat his wounds and bring about a full recovery.  As the men and women of law enforcement and especially the Illinois State Police cope with another attack on one of Your peacemakers, may Your grace, mercy, presence and comfort supernaturally settle upon them and Your wounded servant and may You draw them ever so close to Your side where he/she can experience a peace that passes all understanding.  As the family of this wounded trooper is likely at his side, may You fill them with Your comfort, love, pace and grace as they love and support their loved one through this emotional journey.  And, as we know this life-threatening incident can and will emotionally affect many law enforcement officers who were present during this encounter, we seek Your amazing grace and comfort to touch their hearts, minds and spirits and hold them ever so close to Your side. As the suspect is barricaded in the home, grant the investigators insight and wisdom to use their skills and training to bring this to a successful resolution.  May You, Lord, cause the suspect to be remorseful and surrender.  And if he tries to use his weapon again, may You cause it to misfire or malfunction.  May You surround every trooper and be their Rock, Fortress and Deliver throughout this entire incident.  May You allow the investigators wisdom to gather all of the evidence and facts surrounding this attack on Your servants. May You use this encounter to draw many ever so close to Your Side. May Your word as follow dwell deeply and continually in the hearts of many troopers and family members, “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.” O’ Lord, may Your amazing grace be made real to this wounded trooper and many others who were present. May they know Your love, grace, peace, mercy, presence and comfort carrying them through this emotional time. May Your grace preserve the hearts and minds of those involved and prevent them from enduring any short-term or long-term emotional trauma often brought on by these types of incidents. May Your grace touch the families of this wounded trooper and many other families within the Illinois State Police. Finally, may many be drawn unto Your side, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
