Our God of Mercy, we join with the men and women of the Guilford County Sheriff's Department in lifting up this seriously wounded deputy before Your Throne of Grace. May Your presence and healing power continue to descend upon this officer in the hospital in which he was shot in the jaw. O’ Lord, we know You are the Author of Life and our Great Physician. We thank You that You are merciful, wise, omniscient, faithful, holy and good and for those reasons, we seek Your amazing grace and the touch of the Master’s Hand to be upon this wounded deputy from head to foot. May You reach inside his physical body and begin the healing process according to Your Riches and Glory in Christ Jesus. May Your grace, peace, mercy and Your Presence also be with the second wounded deputy. May these wounded deputies and the entire Guilford County Sheriff's Department and their families know Your word says, “My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.” Lord, we know these wounded deputies are in Your hands. You know all things and You know we earnestly come before Your Throne of Grace to seek Your mercy and grace at this time of need. And if these wounded deputies do not know Your love and forgiveness, we ask You to use chaplains, Godly deputies and others to share Your love with them and allow them an opportunity to receive You has their personal Savior and Lord. Grant the investigators wisdom as they gather the facts in which the suspect lost his life. May those who’ve been emotionally and/or spiritually challenged from this attack on their co-workers, know, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” May they do as King David did, who said, “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” So Lord, may Your mercy, grace, love and comfort settle upon these wounded deputies family, co-workers and friends as they rally around him. Wrap Your Arms of love around every member of the Guilford County Sheriff's Department. May Your peace that passes all understanding be made real in everyone’s hearts. May You use this near-tragedy to draw all men unto Your Son in whom there is forgiveness of sins and everlasting life, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
