Our Heavenly Father, We join in mourning with the men and women of the Draper City Police Department in this tragic death of Sergeant Derek Johnson.  Lord, we ask for your grace and mercy to settle upon every officer, co-worker, first responder and medical personnel who attended Sgt. Johnson and the other wounded man and woman and uphold them with Your arms of love.  May you grant the investigators wisdom to investigate this murder and to determine all of the facts surrounding this incident.  May your arms of love and peace also encircle Sgt. Johnson’s family as they endure this sudden and tragic loss.  Whenever a law enforcement officer is lost in the line of duty, every man and woman in law enforcement feel the same pain as do the members of the Draper City Police Department.  May You Lord, the God of all comfort, touch the hearts of every officer, co-worker and family member for Your word says that You will always be close to the brokenhearted.  May those grieving and mourning know that as they walk through this valley of the shadow of death, may they intimately know You will be guarding their hearts and minds at every step.  And as Sergeant Johnson is laid to rest in the coming weeks, may many come to know Your endless love found in the sacrificial gift of Your Son.
