Our Gracious Lord, We come into Your presence to lift up a wounded Philadelphia Police officer before your Throne of Grace. Once again, we are so thankful for Your mercies and grace to have been upon this officer and several other officers, in sparing their lives. As one officer was shot in the back and his life was spared by his Kevlar vest, we know that he still suffered blunt force traumatic injuries and therefore seek Your continued healing power to be upon this wounded peacemaker. May You grant the medical staff wisdom to continue to treat and fully restore this officer to complete health. Lord, we are also so grateful for the technology of the Kevlar Vest. And as we know incidents like this can cause some deep emotional trauma both short-term and long-term, it is Your everlasting peace and comfort we seek to settle upon the heart and mind of the officers involved in this near-death incident. May Your mercies, grace and love touch their hearts and minds and may they sense Your immediate presence comforting their spirits and You carry them through this near-death encounter. May Your grace and mercies especially extend to their families who experienced the near loss of their loved ones. Grant the family members an extraordinary touch of Your peace and grace. May Your hands of love and comfort touch the entire Philadelphia Police Department as they rally around supporting their co-workers who almost entered eternity. As several suspects fired upon these officers, may You grant the investigators wisdom to locate and arrest these suspects. O’ God, we pray the blood of Jesus upon the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department. May You prevent these suspects from firing their weapons at any other peace officers. And if they try to harm any officer, may You cause their weapons to misfire and may their evil recoil on them. May You use this near-death experience to draw many North Philadelphia officers, friends and family members ever so close to the peace provided by Your Son in whom there is everlasting life. And if any officer does not know Your Son in a personal way, may they be drawn close to His side where they can know the everlasting life found in Him because of His sacrifice on the cross. May You allow many come to know the freedom found only in Your Son. May many be comforted with Your word as follows, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” And, “The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever.” May Your name be glorified, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
