Our Father in Heaven, unto You Lord, we give You thanks and Praise for sparing the life of Sgt. John Lenz.  As the news reports indicate he was shot twice inhis Kevlar vest and in the cheek, we are thankful for the wisdom and insight upon every doctor, nurse and medical staff member who treated Sgt. Lenz.  May they continue to use their years of educations and experience to follow up any needed treatment and may Sgt. Lenz fully recover from this wound.  May Your grace, peace, mercy, comfort and most of all, Your Presence touch Sgt. Lenz as he recovers this Christmas season.  May he reflect on Your Goodness, amazing grace and protection.  May Your hands of grace touch Sgt. Lenz’s family who were obviously traumatized by this near-death encounter.  May Your peace and Your Presence surround them, and may your Holy Spirit give them a calmness in their hearts and spirits as they reflect on this near-tragedy.  We also ask for Your amazing grace to settle upon the men and women of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department responders as they, too, were emotionally traumatized at the near loss of a dear friend and co-worker.  May You grant the investigators wisdom as they gather the facts.  We are so thankful the suspect was arrested.  As we know these life-threatening scenarios can emotionally affect many in varying degrees, we ask for Your grace to surround them and prevent them from enduring sleepless nights or any of the other related issues from this near-death encounter.  May Sgt. Lenz, his colleagues and family intimately know they Your word says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  May You raise up chaplains and other Godly officers to be a light to the entire Douglas County Sheriff's Department and their community.  May you use this near-tragedy and draw many deputies ever so close to You.  May many receive You for the first time as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen
