O’ God, senseless and heartless describes the tragic loss of Corporal Brian LaVigne.  Our God of Mercy, the men and women of law enforcement in America need your continued touch and Presence in everything they do.  We, once again, find ourselves grieving with the men and women of the Florida law enforcement community in this tragic loss of another one of Your servants.  O’ Lord, we ask for Your mercies to be abundant upon the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department as they must now cope with the loss of their dear friend and co-worker who was retiring tomorrow.  Lord, we ask Your Glorious Presence to me made ever so real to the countless members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department and their families as this loss has become so personal.  May Your grace, Your presence and Your Holy Spirit surround Corporal LaVigne’s family as they are in shock and dismay at this senseless loss.  May Your love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort touch the hearts and minds of every member of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department.  We are so grateful that the suspect is in custody and ask for Your Holy Spirit to fill the investigators with wisdom as they piece together this crime scene.  Continue to grant wisdom to the investigators to gather all of the facts.  As we know the long-term emotional and spiritual trauma that can result from incidents like these, we ask for Your abundant mercies to touch those law enforcement officers who have been so deeply affected and sustain them with Your loving kindness.  O’ Lord, we know there are so many broken hearts right now.  May You comfort many with Your words as follows,”In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.” And, “Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.” May Your Presence be made real to everyone’s heart and spirit.  Draw them ever so close to Your Side where many may sense Your Love carrying them through this difficult time.  May you use this tragedy to cause many officers, family members and friends to search their hearts.  May You, Lord, raise up chaplains and Godly officers to share Your love ad comfort.  And if any are uncertain about their destination in eternity, may they know that You are the Author of Life, the Bread of Life and their Living Water.  Draw all who need You by the power of Your Holy Spirit and may many receive You into their hearts and receive forgiveness of sin.  May You bring about good from this tragedy, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
