O’ God, that’s all we can utter right now. O’ God! Take this horrific tragedy and bring about good to the countless law enforcement officers, firefighters and the people of North Carolina as the cope with the loss and injury of so many of Your servants. O’ God, may those who know You intimately take this to heart for all of America, “…[if] My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’ So, Lord, we come with broken hearts before Your Throne of Grace to lift up the Watauga County Sheriff’s office as they endure the loss of their two friends and co-workers. May Your mercies and Your Presence touch their hearts and minds and comfort them as only our Heavenly Father is able. We especially lift up the families of Sgt. Chris Ward and Deputy Logan Fox who are mourning and grieving ever so greatly at this sudden loss of their loved ones at the hands of another. We also lift up the families of the wounded officer and Firefighter from Boone and the Appalachian State University police and seek Your grace to touch them. May Your healing touch be upon these wounded servants and restore them to full health. May Your love, mercy, peace, comfort and Your Presence in their hearts console and carry them through this horrific incident. O’ God, may Your word as follow bring the needed comfort to so many who are hurting, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” ; “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” And, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” In the coming weeks as preparations are made to say a final farewell to these fallen peacemakers, may You raise up Chaplains and Godly peace officers to be a representation of Your unending love and comfort. May You use this final service to point many unto Jesus and may many receive You as their savior and Lord. May Your mercies prevent any first responder from having to endure any short-term or long-term emotional trauma from this incident. Lord, surround every peace officer in America with Your Shield on and off-duty, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
