Our Father in Heaven, we come into Your Presence, O’ Lord with hearts of praise and gratitude unto You for sparing the life of West Virginia State Trooper Corporal Z.S. Conner. As the news reported he was shot and saved because of his Kevlar vest, we know there will still be some pain and emotional trauma that this trooper will experience in the coming days. So, Lord, we ask for Your continued healing touch to be upon Corporal Conner and ask you to provide for a full and complete recovery. More importantly, Lord, we ask for Your amazing grace to settle upon his heart and mind as he must deal with the emotional reality of this life-threatening event in which other law enforcement personnel had to use deadly force in which the suspect lost his life. So Lord, may Your grace and your presence touch Corporal Conner’s heart and mind. May Your mercy, peace and grace be with the men and women of the West Virginia State Police as we know this near-death experience can affect them as well. May Your peace that passes all understanding especially touch the family of Corporal Conner as they rally around their loved one from this near-death experience. Lord, may You use this near tragedy to draw the members of the West Virginia State Police close to Your side to intimately experience the joy and peace provided by Your son. And if Corporal Conner or any other co-worker or family member does not know Your love and forgiveness, may Your Holy Spirit cause many to examine their hearts and draw them to the Love of Your Son. Lord, may You provide the investigators with wisdom and insight to piece together facts of this incident. As a result of this near-death encounter, may You draw many officers and family members to Your side and may many come to receive You as their Savior and Lord. May Your mercies and peace rest upon the many other first responders and medical personnel who aided in saving the life of this wounded warrior. May Your words as follows come alive in the hearts of many law enforcement officers, “Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. And, “The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
