Our Father in Heaven, our hearts are broken once again Lord, as we grieve with the men and women of the Worcester Police Department in the on-duty drowning fatality of Officer Emmanuel “Manny” Familia. As this loss has affected multiple officers and families, we ask You to give the investigators wisdom and insight to be able to gather the facts in order to determine what happened and prevent future tragedies. May Your mercies and grace touch the many first responders who went to that scene. We ask You to especially place Your loving arms around the family of Officer Familia as we know they are in deep pain at this sudden loss. We know the only thing that can bring them solace is Your Amazing Grace. So Lord, pour out Your Peace that passes all understanding upon them to guard their hearts and minds in Your Loving Presence. Lord, as there are thousands of law enforcement officer who could be faced with this same scenario, we ask for Your hands of protection to continually be upon them and keep them safe from all harm and danger. Most importantly Lord, may the men and women of the Worcester Police Department know that You will always their Fortress and Refuge in times of trouble. And as they will now be having to make preparations to say a final farewell to their fallen comrade, may You use this as an occasion for those who’ve strayed from Your path to re-dedicate their hearts and lives to You. May they know they can always cast their cares upon You because You care for them. May Your word as follow bring comfort to hurting souls, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” Lord, may You raise up chaplains and other Godly officers to provide hope and grace to many hurting hearts. Finally, may many officers, friends and family members invite You into their hearts and receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
