O’ Merciful Lord, we are so grateful for Your wonderful mercies upon this wounded California Highway Patrol Officer and are so thankful that You spared his life. As the news reports he suffered a graze wound to the head, we ask you to grant the doctor’s wisdom to treat his wound and restore him to full health. We, therefore, lift up this officer before Your Throne of Grace and ask You to wrap Your loving arms around him as he recovers from this near-death experience. We are so thankful for the strength and might You gave to the many CHP officers who were involved in this incident in which the suspect lost his life. May Your peace that passes all understanding sustain this officer and may he be drawn ever close to Your side for the continuing comfort of Your Holy Spirit as he recovers. May Your mercy, grace, love and everlasting comfort also settle upon the family of this officer as they cope with this near tragedy. May Your grace additionally touch every member of the California Highway Patrol as they rally around to support their wounded comrade and his family. As we know there were several law enforcement officers involved in this near-death incident, may they know that You ordained their job as a peacemaker to protect and serve their community wherever they may be. And through this near-death encounter, may many law enforcement officers come to recognize their need to draw near to You for You will then draw near to them. May Your words speak to the hearts of those in need, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Because of Your peace and grace, may many come to receive Your forgiveness and receive Your Son as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
