O’ Lord, today is truly a day of thanksgiving unto YOU for sparing the lives of these two seriously wounded New York Police Officers. Our Gracious Father, we come boldly into Your presence to bring these two wounded New York police officers before Your Throne of grace and mercy. We are so very thankful that You spared their lives as they are both being treated at local hospitals. As both are said to be in serious but stable condition, we ask You to guide the doctors and grant them wisdom and grace to diagnose and treat their wounds and bring about a full recovery. May Your grace, mercy and especially Your peace that passes all understanding gently settle upon the hearts and minds of these two officers and draw them ever so close to Your side. May they sense Your presence comforting them in their hearts and minds. May Your grace also touch the many other law enforcement officers who were involved in that incident and are thankful the suspect has been taken into custody. As we know there were also multiple first responders and paramedics who responded to aid these injured officers, we ask for Your grace to touch their hearts and minds as we know they experienced the same emotional trauma as the officers. May Your mercy and peace especially touch the families of both officers and uphold them with Your arms of love as they are with their loved ones. Grant them peace that passes all understanding as You carry them through this very difficult time. May Your words as follow comfort these officers, their families and the entire New York Police Department, “The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose.”; “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go”; and, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” In the coming days as everyone involved begins to reflect on this near-death experience, may they focus on You, the Author of Life, and may they be drawn to the love of Your Son in whom there is everlasting life. May You provide them Your peace that passes all understanding. May these following words come alive in the hearts of many, “O’ God, [As] the cords of death entangled me, [a law enforcement officer], the anguish of the grave came upon me; I was overcome by trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, save me!”, in Jesus name, Amen. Ps 116: 3-4” Finally, may many come to intimately know that You will always be their Rock, Fortress and Deliverer, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
