Our Merciful Lord, we come again with broken hearts for the second time today as we mourn and grieve with the men and women of the Mineral Point Fire Department in the tragic loss of two firefighters from an on-duty collision. O’ Lord, as this loss have affected so many in the fire community, we seek Your peace, love, grace, mercy and comfort to settle upon the entire Mineral Point Fire Department and countless allied fire and police agencies who were present during that difficult incident. May Your Presence and grace carry them through this time of loss and draw them ever so close to each other. As we know the family of both firefighters are in shock and mourning ever so greatly, we can rest in the comfort of Your word as follows, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” May Your amazing grace gently descend upon both families and sustain them with Your arms of love. May they deeply and intimately sense Your grace, love, peace, comfort and most of all the sweet presence of Your Holy Spirit carrying them through this horrific loss. O’ Lord, may You grant the investigators wisdom as they piece together the facts from this incident in order to prevent any similar incidents to save lives. As we know there are countless other firefighters were present afterwards, may these words bring comfort to those in need, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” So Lord, in the coming days as the men and women of the Mineral Point Fire Department begin the task to prepare for a final farewell to their fallen comrades, may You use this as a time to bind broken hearts and draw many unto the love of Your Son, Jesus, in whom there is everlasting life. May You raise up Godly firefighters, chaplains and others to be a light to those in need. May this tragedy draw many ever so close to Your Side as You carry them through this difficult time. May many come to know the Love of Jesus, in Your name we pray, Amen.
