Our Father in Heaven, we come boldly before Your Throne of Grace to lift up wounded St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth Doby. As the news reports he was shot in the back wrestling with a suspect, we are so thankful to You, Lord, for sparing his life and the life of his co-worker. As he has since been treated and released from a hospital, we ask You to grant continued healing of his mind, body and spirit as he copes with this near-death experience. May Your Amazing Grace and peace continue to touch Deputy Doby and his family as they are supporting him at this very emotional time. O’ Lord, may You continue to pour out Your grace upon Deputy Doby and his co-worker who was present during this near-death encounter. May Your grace, peace and comfort touch the many other law enforcement officers, first responders and hospital personnel who were involved in this incident. May You sustain them with Your peace that passes all understanding. Lord, we are so thankful to You that You spared the life of deputy Doby and are thankful the suspect was successfully detained. So, Lord, pour out Your grace upon the men and women of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department as we know this attack on one of their colleagues can and will affect them emotionally, physically and spiritually. We especially ask you to surround every St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Deputy with the presence of Your angels to keep them safe from all harm and danger. As we know this near-death encounter can affect many in varying ways, may they know Your word says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” So, Lord, may every officer be drawn ever so near to You by Your Holy Spirit. Grant the investigators wisdom to gather evidence and facts surrounding this investigation. Again, thank You Lord, for sparing the life of your servant. And as Deputy Doby continues to recover and reflect on his near loss of life, may he know that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. And if he does not know You, may he know that Your word says, “Now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation”, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
