Our Gracious Lord, as many law enforcement officers across America know too well the pain in losing a co-worker while on-duty, we, once again, join with the men and women of the Baton Rouge Police Department as they mourn the loss of one of two officers from an on-duty helicopter accident. O’ Lord, as we know the pain is ever so great, we ask You to wrap Your Arms of Love around every member of the Baton Rouge Police Department as they are in deep sorrow and grieving ever so greatly at this terrible loss. May Your peace, love, grace, mercy and everlasting comfort touch their hearts, minds and souls as they endure this tragic loss of a dear friend and co-worker. As we know there were likely a handful of officers and first responders who had to endure witnessing the aftermath of that collision scene first-hand, we ask You to pour out an extra measure of Your grace upon them as they had to endure this tragedy up close. May You grant the investigators wisdom to piece together the facts surrounding this deadly incident. And as we know this fallen officer’s families are in shock and mourning ever so greatly, we ask Your Amazing Grace to be made ever so real in their hearts and draw them ever so close to Your Son to be comforted by his loving presence. As we know there a deep emptiness in the hearts of many right now, may they be comforted with Your words as follows, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” So Lord, as the Baton Rouge Police Department must now begin the process to prepare a final farewell to their fallen comrades, may You use it as an opportunity to draw many unto the love of Your Son in whom there is forgiveness and everlasting life. And if any co-workers may have strayed from Your Path, may they be drawn back unto Your Side. Finally, may many hear the good news for the first time that, “…God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” O’ Lord, comfort those whose hearts have been broken! May Your Amazing Grace be made known to many in need, In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
