Our Loving Father,  We come before You Lord to seek Your mercy and grace upon a wounded deputy sheriff.  Not only is his family grateful, but the entire law enforcement community is rejoicing that his life was spared because he was wearing his Kevlar vest.  Lord, may Your peace and grace sweetly descend upon this injured deputy who experienced a near death episode.  May he know that You will always be his strength and shield and that he can always place his trust in You.  May Your mercies be upon his mind and spirit over the next several months and years as we know life-threatening events like these can cause emotional trauma.  May Your peace also touch his family and sustain them with Your unending love.  May Your love, grace, peace, mercies and comfort descend upon every other law enforcement officer involved in this incident and may each law enforcement officer intimately know You are always our Refuge.  May this injured deputy, his family and co-workers know that the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and that You deliver them.  May they forever take heart and may they know they can always hope in You for You will never leave us nor forsake us.  Surround every member of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department with Your love.  May they know You are the Way, the Truth and the Life, this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
