O’ Lord, we are so grateful for Your wonderful mercies to have been upon this wounded deputy and are so thankful that You spared his life. As the news reports this deputy’s wounds are not considered to be life-threatening as he was shot in a leg, we ask you to continue to grant the doctor’s wisdom and insight to accurately diagnose and treat his wounds and restore him to full health. We, therefore, lift up this deputy before Your Throne of Grace and ask You to wrap Your loving arms around him as he recovers from this near-death experience. May Your peace that passes all understanding sustain this deputy and may he be drawn ever close to Your side for the continuing comfort of Your Holy Spirit. May Your mercy, grace, love and everlasting comfort especially settle upon the family of this deputy as they, too, endured the near loss of their loved one. May Your grace additionally touch every member of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department as they rally around to support their wounded co-worker and his family. As the suspect died after being shot by law enforcement officers, may You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to gather the facts surrounding this deadly encounter. Lord, may You use this life-threatening incident as a reminder and training aid to law enforcement officers across America to continue to be vigilant in everything they do and may they never become complaisant. May ever member of law enforcement officer know Your word says, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” And, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Lastly Lord, if there are any law enforcement officers who are struggling emotionally or spiritually to make sense of this attack upon one of Your peacemakers, may they know that You ordained their job as a peacemaker to protect and serve their community wherever they may be. May many law enforcement officers come to recognize their need to draw near to You for You will then draw near to them. Finally, may many come to receive Your forgiveness and receive Your Son as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
