O’ Merciful Lord, we are so grateful for Your wonderful mercies upon this wounded Indianapolis Police Officer and are so thankful that You spared his life. As the news reports he is in stable condition, we ask you to grant the doctor’s wisdom and insight to continue to accurately diagnose and treat his wound and restore him to full health. We, therefore, lift up this officer before Your Throne of Grace and ask You to wrap Your loving arms around him as he recovers from this near-death experience. We are so thankful for the strength and might You gave to this officer to endure through this situation even though he was wounded. May Your peace that passes all understanding sustain this officer and may he be drawn ever so close to Your side for the continuing comfort of Your Holy Spirit as he recovers. May Your mercy, grace, love and everlasting comfort also settle upon the family of this officer as they cope with this near loss of their loved one. May Your grace additionally touch every member of the Indianapolis Police Department as they rally around to support their wounded comrade and his family. As the suspect is on the loose, may You grant the investigators wisdom to use their investigative skills to locate and arrest the suspect. And as officers are still in harm’s way, may You surround them with Your angels and keep them safe. As we know there were several law enforcement officers involved in this near-death incident, may every law enforcement officer know that You ordained their job as a peacemaker to protect and serve their community wherever they may be. And through this near-death encounter, may many law enforcement officers come to recognize their need to draw near to You for You will then draw near to them. May Your words speak to the hearts of those in need, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” As this wounded officer reflects on his near-death experience, may he recognize Your amazing grace and come to receive Your forgiveness and receive Your Son into his heart as Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
