Our Merciful Lord, it with a deep sense of urgency that we come boldly into your Presence to lift up an Alton Police Officer into Your loving arms. As news reports he and his police dog were shot in which both were transported to medical facilities, we seek Your presence, grace and healing power to immediately settle upon them right now. O’ Lord, because You alone are our Rock and our Fortress and our ever-present help in times of trouble, we earnestly come before your Throne of Grace to ask You to supernaturally touch this Alton officer. As his condition in not known and is being treated at a trauma center, may You continue to provide the needed medical specialists and doctors to continue to swiftly diagnose his wounds and apply the correct surgical treatment and medications to save this peacemaker. As we know the family of this officer is likely at his side and are supporting and loving him, we seek Your amazing grace to sustain them through this very difficult time of uncertainty. Lord, may your sustaining grace, peace and mercy touch the hearts and souls of the men and women of the Alton Police Department as they rally to support their law enforcement family. Continue to pour out Your wisdom on the medical staff to spare the life of Your wounded servant and the police canine. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the facts of this incident in which the suspect died. As we know this can affect many other coworkers who can be affected mentally, emotionally and spiritually, pour out Your amazing grace on their hearts and souls. May Your amazing grace prevent this officer and any co-worker from enduring any short-term or long-term affects upon their heart and mind and may they be drawn unto Your side for grace. May Your words as follows speak to the hearts of so many in need, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ; and “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” So, Lord, as this officer is being treated, may You raise up chaplains and other Christian officers to bring comfort to anyone in need. May many come to know and intimately experience Your grace and mercy in their hearts and souls. O’ Lord, continue to touch and heal Your servant and his police dog, this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
