Our Father of mercy, we come unto Your Throne of Grace as we lift up the men and women of the San Diego Police Department in this tragic loss of a fellow officer from an on-duty collision. O’ God, as the emotional pain is ever so great, we come boldly and humbly into Your Presence to lift up the San Diego Police Department as they are mourning and grieving ever so greatly at this tragic loss. O’ God, as a second officer is fighting for his life, we lift this officer into Your healing arms. May You continue to provide this officer with the best medical care and spare his life as You provide the correct medical specialists to heal him. As there are many hurting hearts right now, Lord, may You place Your arms of love upon their shoulders and may they intimately sense Your great comfort carrying them through this time of loss and hurt. And as the families of this fallen officer and injured officer are also in deep mourning, may You surround them with Your love, grace, peace, mercy, comfort and most of all Your Presence to carry them through this tragic loss and injury of their loved ones. Continue to grant the investigators wisdom and insight to gather the facts from this collision. May Your grace, comfort and Presence touch the many paramedics, first responders, law enforcement officers and medical staff who were involved in this scene. May these words bring amazing comfort and peace to those in need of a touch from the Master’s Hand, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” And, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” So Lord, as the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department members rally around their co-worker fighting for his life, may Your grace and mercy carry them through this tough time. And as they must now begin the task to prepare for a farewell service for their fallen comrade, grant them amazing grace to carry out this task. May You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to be a light to those in need. And during farewell this service, may the name of Your Son be magnified, and may many be drawn unto Him and receive him as Savior and Lord. May this memorial service be a beacon of hope and may many receive Your Son into their heart to be their Savior and Lord, this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, Amen.
