O’ Merciful Lord, We are so grateful for Your wonderful mercies upon this wounded Richmond Police Officer and are so thankful that You spared his life. As the news reports he is in stable condition, we ask you to grant the doctor’s wisdom and insight to continue to accurately diagnose and treat his wound and restore him to full health. We, therefore, lift up this officer before Your Throne of Grace and ask You to wrap Your loving arms around him as he recovers from this near-death experience. We are so thankful for the strength and might You gave to this officer who was transported to the hospital by a co-worker. May Your peace that passes all understanding sustain this officer and may he be drawn ever close to Your side for the continuing comfort of Your Holy Spirit as he recovers. May Your mercy, grace, love and everlasting comfort also settle upon the family of this officer as they cope with this near tragedy. May Your grace additionally touch every member of the Richmond Police Department as they rally around to support their wounded comrade and his family. As several law enforcement officers are involved in a manhunt for the suspect who escaped, may You grant the investigators wisdom to gather evidence to locate and arrest this suspect. May Your Holy Spirit prevent this suspect from harming any other peacemakers. And if he tries to attack any other officers, may you cause his weapon to misfire or malfunction. So, Lord, may every law enforcement officer involved in that search and the entire Richmond Police Department know that You ordained their job as a peacemaker to protect and serve their community wherever they may be. And through this near-death encounter, may many law enforcement officers come to recognize their need to draw near to You for You will then draw near to them. May Your words speak to the hearts of those in need, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” And, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” May You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to love and point their many unto Your Son. Lastly because of Your peace and grace, may many come to receive Your forgiveness and receive Your Son as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
