Our Merciful Lord, for the second time this week, we seek Your amazing grace to descend upon another one of Your peacemakers—another South Carolina peace officer wounded in the line of duty—a Lee County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy. Thank You, Lord, for sparing the life of this peace officer and thank YOU that the suspect is no longer a threat. Thank you hearing our prayer as follows, “Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge. I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” As the news reports the deputy was fired upon multiple times, may Your love grace, mercy, comfort and unending love settle upon this deputy’s heart and mind and be drawn ever so close to Your side. Grant the doctor’s wisdom to quickly assess and treat any wound(s). May you especially be with this deputy’s family as they come to grips with this near-tragedy of their loved one. Most importantly, Lord, we ask You to pour out an extra measure of Your grace upon the men and women of the Lee County Sheriff’s Department as they come to grips with this attack upon one of their colleagues. May You fill the investigators with supernatural wisdom as they piece together the facts from this incident. May Your angels continually encamp around every member of the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and keep them safe from all harm and danger. May You draw this wounded deputy ever so close to Your side and if this deputy does not know You, may he/she know that Now is the day of salvation. May Your peace, grace and comfort especially touch his/her family as they are likely at his/her side supporting him/hr through this very emotional time. Most importantly Lord, may every member of the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and those from allied agencies sense Your awesome power and grace carrying them through the days ahead. May Your protecting hand continue to be upon every law enforcement officer across America. May every officer know Your word says, “He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
