Our Father in Heaven, We come before Your Throne of Grace to lift up Lt. Bob Mealy into Your presence. We are so thankful that his injuries were not serious and that, in Your goodness and grace, You spared his life. Lord, we also want to lift up the men and women of Manatee County Sheriff’s Department and ask for Your grace, peace and mercy to descend upon them and comfort them as they nearly lost a co-worker and friend. May Your grace also touch the many other law enforcement officers who were involved in the pursuit. May Your peace that passes all understanding touch the many officers and deputies who were present at the end of the pursuit who had to discharge their firearms. As we know incidents like these can cause short-term and long-term emotional trauma, we ask for Your amazing grace to be poured out upon them and keep them in Your Arms of Loving Mercy. We also want to lift up the family of Lt. Mealy and the families of the many other law enforcement officers who were involved in this incident. As spouses, parents, siblings, children and friends are often unfamiliar with traumatic incidents like these, we also ask for Your peace, grace and mercies to touch their hearts and minds and may they be comforted by Your presence. Lord, continue to protect every law enforcement officer in the State of Florida which has the highest assault rate upon peace officers. May Your Holy Spirit continuously remind every peace officer to use wisdom and discretion in everything they do on and off duty. May they remember their training and may You prod their hearts to be ever vigilant to perceive dangers in their paths. Continue to protect every law enforcement officer across the U.S and abroad. May You use these life-threatening incidents to draw many peace officers and their families unto Your side. May many have an opportunity to come into a personal relationship with You. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
