Our Heavenly Father,

We lift up our eyes unto Heaven from where our help comes—from the Maker of heaven and earth.  And it is to YOU, our Heavenly Father, that we ask your grace, mercy, peace, love and wisdom to settle upon the men and women of the Aurora Police Department who are in the midst of investigating this horrendous tragedy at this movie theater.  Lord we lift up the many injured victims and ask you to bring healing upon their bodies and grant the medical staff wisdom to treat them.  We also lift up the families of those who lost their lives and may your mercy and peace sweetly settle upon their hearts to sustain them.  And Lord, I pray for the law enforcement officers who were the first to arrive on scene to witness the sheer panic and mass devastation.  May you grant them an extra measure of grace to keep their minds and hearts strong in YOU.  We also lift up all of the investigators who are tasked with investigating the entire crime scene.  These men and women will have these images etched in the minds for days or years to come.  May your hand of mercy and grace be upon them to sustain them?  May you send Godly men and women to support these officers and investigators to provide comfort.  We ask your Holy Spirit to settle upon the entire police department as this tragedy will affect many for days to come.  We also lift up the EMS personnel who were just as traumatized by the massive devastation they witnessed by the hands of one person.  We lift up the suspect and pray for his salvation and that although he took the lives of many people, we ask that your mercy would extend to him, too, and that your Holy Spirit would draw him to you.  Through this entire situation, Lord, we ask that anyone (citizen, EMS or law enforcement) who does not know you personally, would be led to a chaplain, pastor, friend or church where they may hear the good news and receive YOU—Lord Jesus—as their Savior and Lord, this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ—our King of Kings, Amen.
