O Gracious Lord, We come humbly into thy presence to seek Your mercies and grace for the men and women of the New York Police Department in the loss of rookie officer Michael Williams. Lord, as our hearts are equally heavy with them, we also want to lift up the eight other officers injured in this collision before Your Throne of Grace. May Your healing power be upon those officers with varying degrees of injuries. May Your grace especially touch the family of Officer Williams who are grieving deeply from this tragic loss. May Your Holy Spirit touch their hearts and souls and carry them through this very emotional time. May Your grace, peace, mercy, comfort and unending love settle upon the hearts of every officer who was in that van at the time of the collision. May Your presence be made known in their hearts and minds and may Your strength be made known as You carry them through difficult days ahead. May your grace touch the many other NYPD officers, paramedics and first responders who responded to that horrific scene. May Your Holy Spirit draw them ever so close to Your side where they can rest in Your presence and grace. May You give the traffic investigators insight and wisdom in order to determine the cause of the collision. May You especially be with the driver of the police van and draw that officer especially close to You—where You will be a shield and fortress—an ever present help. And in the coming days as the NYPD prepares to say farewell to Officer Williams, may the name of Your Son be lifted high and magnified in the midst of this tragedy for only HE can be the true comforter for a weary soul. May many officers, friends and family members be drawn unto the Love of Your Son and may many receive Him as their savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
