Our Gracious Lord, We join with the men and women of the Ottawa Police Department in grieving the tragic loss of Sergeant Kal Ghadban who took his life inside their police headquarters. Lord, we know the emotional pain must be very great and ask for Your sweet presence to be supernaturally revealed to the many co-workers and friends who have been so deeply affected. May Your grace and mercies especially touch the wife of children of Sgt. Ghadban who are in deep shock and disbelief from this tragedy. Lord, we know it is only by Your intervening power and grace that the men and women of the Ottawa Police Department will be comforted. May Your hands of mercy and love settle in their hearts and minds and be drawn to the comforting power of Your Son—in whom there is forgiveness, grace and everlasting life. May You take this tragedy and use it to draw many law enforcement officers and family members ever so close to the Cross of Christ. May You reveal Your Son by the power of Your Holy Spirit to those with deeply broken hearts. Lord, we ask that the Blood of Your Son, Jesus, be poured out upon the Ottawa Police Department, and especially upon any other law enforcement officer who might be secretly harboring suicidal ideations. May they know that if the Son will set them free, they will be free indeed. May anyone know that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved and gain everlasting life in Jesus Christ who forgives any and all sins. May You use this time to cause law enforcement officers across Canada, the U.S. and the world to know that Jesus will never leave them nor forsake them for Your word says to, “draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Finally Lord, in the days to come as they Ottawa Police Department prepares a final farewell to Sgt. Ghadban, may You use this to draw countless officers and family members unto your Son in whom there is everlasting life, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
