Our Father in Heaven, it is Your Grace and Your Presence we seek today for the men and women of the Montgomery Police Department as they mourn the loss of one of their own—Officer David Colley. The hearts of every law enforcement officer are broken whenever a brother loses his life in the line of duty. So Lord, it is unto You we seek Your love, grace, mercy, and comfort to settle upon those grieving. May they be drawn ever so close to Your Side to experience Your presence. May Your hands of grace and mercy especially touch Officer Colley’s wife and one year old child as they are deeply mourning the loss of their husband and father. May You surround the wife and daughter with Your angels and may they intimately experience your presence and especially Your Grace to carry them through this time of loss. As we know the entire Montgomery Police Department is hurting, we ask You to touch every officer, civilian worker, supervisor and manager and fill them with your peace that passes all understanding. And as they begin to process to say farewell to Officer Colley, may You use this as an opportunity to raise up chaplains and Godly officers to share the love of Your Son and the salvation found in Him alone. We next want to lift up a wounded Slidell Police Officer who was shot in the line of duty. We are ever so grateful to You Lord for sparing his life. May You continue to grant the doctors wisdom to diagnose this injury and render the correct treatment to allow for a full recovery. May your mercies be upon this wounded officer and his co-workers who experienced this near-death encounter. As we know the fatality of Officer Colley and the shooting of this Slidell officer can cause emotional distress to many co-workers, we seek You amazing grace and awesome presence to be ever so real upon those who are struggling to cope with these incidents. May those in distress hear these words echoed by King David and take them to heart, “I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” So Lord, we know at any time, we can cast our burdens on You because You intimately care for us. And at this Easter season, may you turn these traumatic incidents into a joyous occasion where many may receive Your Son as Savior and Lord and receive forgiveness of Sins for we thank You that You are the Resurrection and the Life, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
