Our Father in Heaven, our hearts are broken as we mourn with the men and women of the Colorado State Police in the death of Cadet Taylor Thyfault and for critically injured Trooper Clinton Rushing who were both intentionally struck by a fleeing vehicle. Lord, we lift up the family of Cadet Thyfault as we know they are grieving ever so greatly at this tragic loss. We know it is only Your grace and mercy that can sustain the family as they cope with this senseless loss of someone in their prime of life. May the love, peace and comfort of Your Holy Spirit gently settle upon their hearts and minds. We also bring before Your Throne of Grace Trooper Clinton Rushing who is struggling for his life. May You continue to touch his body and use the medical doctors to be able to fully identify his injuries and apply the proper treatment. May your amazing grace also be with the family of Trooper Rushing where they can be drawn ever so close to Your Side to seek Your mercies to carry them through this very difficult time. Lord, we lift up the men and women of the Colorado State Police as we know this tragic incident has struck them very hard. May those officers and paramedics who were at that initial crash scene be drawn ever so close to Your Side as we know the trauma they saw today will be forever etched into their hearts. May Your grace, mercy and comfort touch them ever so deeply where they may intimately know Your peace in the middle of this very difficult storm. Lord, we also lift up the suspect who caused this collision and seek Your justice to prevail upon his life as his actions have deeply affected thousands of lives. Even though this suspect must suffer man’s punishment, we seek Your mercy upon him where he may come to know the forgiveness found in Your Son. May many troopers, co-workers, family members and friends of both Cadet Taylor Thyfault and Trooper Clinton Rushing come to intimately sense Your grace and mercies in their hearts. May many be drawn to Your Son in whom there is everlasting life and may this tragedy drawn many to receive You as their savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
