Our Gracious Lord, on this Lord’s day, we come into Your Presence to give You thanks and praise for sparing the life of a Watsonville Police Officer.  As he is in the hospital being treated, may You give the doctors and entire medical staff wisdom to  be able to properly and effectively diagnose and treat his wound.  May You surround this wounded officer with Your Presence and comfort as he had this near death encounter.  May You fill him with Your Holy Spirit.  May Your mercies and compassion also surround and fill the family of this wounded officer as they are at his side supporting and living him.  As we know several other Watsonville officers were present and likely had to use deadly force, we ask for Your grace and comfort to settle upon their hearts as they were forced to take the life of this suspect.  May every officer who was involved in that incident be drawn close to You Lord, the God of all Comfort for You are our Peace.  May You use this incident to speak to the hearts of every Watsonville and any other peace officer who was at that scene and sustain them with the comfort of Your Holy Spirit.  As we know incidents like these can cause short-term and long-term emotional trauma, may You draw any officer who is struggling in their heart close to You where there is peace.  May Your grace and mercies touch the men and women of the entire Watsonville Police Department as they nearly lost one of their own.  May Your peace that passes all understanding become real in their hearts and may all be drawn unto Your Son in whom there is forgiveness and everlasting life, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
