Our Father in Heaven, we come before You, Lord, to thank You for sparing the lives of several Riverside Deputies who confronted a man alleged to be unstable.  We first want to lift up this injured deputy before Your Throne of Grace.  As he is being treated in the hospital, we ask You to pour out Your mercy upon him and sustain him with Your grace and love.  May You give the doctors wisdom and insight to accurately diagnose his injuries and then apply the correct treatment.  May Your Holy Spirit descend upon this injured officer and his family and may they deeply sense Your presence and comfort carrying them through this ordeal.  We also lift up several other Riverside Deputies who were forced to use deadly force upon a suspect.  As we know law enforcement officers are prepared to take every appropriate action, we also know traumatic incidents like these can cause short0term and ong-term emotional trauma—even sometime for family members.  So, Lord, we ask You to pour out Your peace that passes all understanding upon the heart and minds of all deputies involved.  We even seek Your comfort for the family of the suspect who lost his life.  May You grant the investigators wisdom to be able to gather the facts surrounding this deadly encounter.  May all involved know that your word says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”  If any deputy is struggling emotionally or spiritually, may you raise up Godly deputies and chaplains to reach out to their co-workers.  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.
