O’ Lord, today, August 28,2015, has been extremely difficult for law enforcement across America with the loss of three law enforcement officers another who has been wounded.  O’ God, we are heartbroken.  We are weak and come with broken hearts before Your Throne of Grace.  We first want to lift up Sergeant Paul Kotter into Your arms of love and protection as he recovers from several gunshot wounds.  We are so very grateful that You spared his life and seek Your continued healing power to be upon him.  May You continue to guide the hands of the doctors and and give them wisdom to apply the correct treatment and bring about a full recovery.  We next come humbly and with a broken hearts to seek your amazing grace for the families of Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper James M. Bava, Michigan State Trooper Chad Wolf and for a fallen Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy.  Lord, the grief in our hearts is immense.  We need Your comfort, Your grace, Your presence, Your peace, Your love—we need the touch of the Master’s hand on everyone who is mourning and grieving.  We especially lift up the families of these fallen peacemakers whose lives will never be the same.  Lord, it is only the comfort and strength of Your Holy Spirit that can sustain them.  Even in the midst of their sorrow and grief,   may they echo these words in their hearts and says, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”  In the midst of these times of grieving and mourning, may they know they can call upon You for You will always comfort those mourning with Your Presence and Your Grace.  May You especially touch the countless co-workers with the Missouri Highway Patrol, Michigan State Police and Harris County Sheriff’s Department as they reel from the shock in the loss of their colleagues and dear friends.  Even in the midst of these horrendous losses, may these words encourage those in deep sorrow, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” And, “Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress…”  Lord, we ask You to reveal the love of Your Son to countless people as a result of these tragedies.  May You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to share Your love to countless hurting souls.  May You give many officers an opportunity to receive Your Son into their hearts.  And if any law enforcement officers have strayed from their path, may they repent and return to serve you, once again, with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength.  And as three agencies will be saying a final farewell to their fallen brothers in the coming weeks, may many be drawn to the love of Your Son and receive Him as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
