O’ Lord, the difficulties and split-second decisions of every law enforcement officer are again evidenced by the actions of and injuries to these two police sergeants.  So Lord, we come boldly into Your Presence to lift up both sergeants who were in a violent confrontation with a man who got a hold of one of the sergeant’s handguns.  As the news reports indicate the sergeants had to use deadly force and a life was lost, we, first, seek Your mercy and grace to be with the family of the man who lost his life. Secondly, we seek Your love, grace, compassion, mercy, peace and comfort to settle upon the hearts, minds, body and spirit of both sergeants as they come to grips with this near-death encounter.  As the news reports do no indicate the extent of the injuries the sergeants suffered, we ask you to grant the doctors with wisdom in order to properly diagnose and treat their injuries.   We also seek Your grace to be poured out upon the families of both sergeants as they support them through this very emotional time.  May Your mercies prevent either sergeant from enduring any short-term or long-term emotional trauma brought on by incidents like these.  And Lord, we lift up the men and women of the San Francisco Police Department as we know this incident can cause tension in their community.  As activists are already coming to conclusions without facts, may Your grace be with the news media and investigators to let the facts and truth be made know.  May You prevent any unrest from occurring and keep away all trouble-makers.  May Peace rest upon the entire San Francisco Police Department.  And if either sergeant is troubled in their hearts, may they know Your word says,  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Grant Your amazing grace and peace to all, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
