Prayers for Cops
No. 7

Heavenly Father,
I come before you first to thank you for your many blessings. I thank you for the many men and women in law enforcement and for instilling in them a desire to do your will in the face of extreme danger. I thank you for giving us those that would protect us even at the greatest cost to them. I thank you for those that are willing to fight evil up close and personal even knowing they may not have society's support. I also thank you for the families of these men and women who send their loved ones out knowing the toll it might, and all too often does, take on them.
I ask that you forgive me my moments of weakness and anger at the late nights, inconvenient shifts, missed events, worry, and stress that come with being married to a cop. I ask that you forgive me the fear I feel for Mike and the times I fail to remember he is always in your hands. I ask also that you forgive the officers their inevitable moments of anger, discouragement and hopelessness at what they encounter.
Please keep your watchful eye on each of those out working to ensure our safety and protect them from those that would do them physical harm. Guard their hearts and souls against the evil that they encounter that it may not weaken their resolve or cloud their ability to see your will. Fortify their spirits that disrespect and hatred from those they seek to protect may not cause them to stumble in pursuing your will. Please protect their spirits so that the job and all it entails may not harden their hearts or turn them cynical. Grant peace and understanding to their families and the knowledge that you are with them always so that their loved ones don't worry.
Please strengthen my resolve to be a good and supportive wife to Mike and give me the patience and perseverance to face the challenges of being married to a cop with a cheerful spirit. Please use Mike to do your will and then, please send him home safe to me.
I ask these things in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
Amen
