Our Father in Heaven, for the third time in two days, we come to You to thank you for sparing another life of one of Your Peacemakers, Deputy Josh Gordon, who was saved because he was wearing his Kevlar vest. Again, words cannot express our heartfelt joy and gratitude to You. As the news reports indicate Deputy Gordon has already been treated and released, we are so thankful to You, Lord, that his injuries were not more serious. As both Deputy Gordon and his partner had to fire their weapons during this traffic stop, we know this incident can very traumatic—both emotionally and spiritually. So Lord, we ask You to draw both deputies close to You where they may come to intimately know Your love, grace, peace, mercy and comfort as You carry them through the emotional rigors of this near-death encounter. May Your amazing grace also be with the family members of both deputies as they were very likely emotionally traumatized when they learned of this incident involving their loved ones. As the news reports indicate the suspect escaped but was later arrested, we ask You to pour out your Mercies upon this suspect and draw him unto the love and forgiveness of Your Son. Lord, we ask You to make Your Presence and mercies to be ever so real in the hearts of the men and women of the entire Monroe County Sheriff's Department as they come together and support each other from this near-death encounter of two of their co-workers. So Lord, we ask You to continue to be a Rock, Fortress and Deliver and an everlasting comforter to them. May these deputies and anyone struggling echo these same words that King David cried, “In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” May Your Holy Spirit reveal to these wounded deputies and their co-workers that now is the day of salvation. And if any Monroe County deputy or family member does not know You personally, may You reveal to their hearts that you love them and will forgive their sins and grant them eternal life. Lastly, may You grant the investigators wisdom to piece together all of the facts surrounding this incident. May many come to know that Your word says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” … in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
