Our Father, it seems the law enforcement community in the southeast portion of the U.S. has been inundated with peacemakers being shot in the line of duty as exemplified by two more officers wounded in Hohenwald.  O’ Lord, we come before You Lord, our Savior, our God, our Healer, as we lift up these two wounded Hohenwald Police officers before Your Throne of Grace.  As the news reports indicate one officer was saved by his Kevlar vest, we lift up the other officer who was airlifted with a serious arm wound.  As he is likely being treated right now, we ask You to fill the medical doctors with wisdom from on High as they diagnose the extent of his wounds and as the decide on the best course of action.  May Your peace that transcends comprehension settle upon the heart of this wounded officer and draw him ever so close to Your Side.  And as his family has likely recently been apprised of his injuries, we know their emotions are running high.  So Lord, may You grant every family member peace and Your Amazing grace as they cope with this tense-filled incident.  May Your Holy Spirit not only descend upon Your wounded servant-peacemaker, may Your amazing grace especially touch his family as well.  And as the other officer survived a gunshot wound to the chest, we know the impact trauma likely caused deep pain—in addition to the lasting knowledge that that officer could have died.  So, Lord, as we know the members of the small, close knit Hohenwald Police Department are all coming to grips with this near-tragedy, may You use this time to cause every member of the department to reflect on Your Goodness, Your Grace, Your Love and Your protection.  Thank You, Lord, for answering our prayer this morning as stated by King David, “Deliver me from my enemies, O God; protect me from those who rise up against me. Deliver me from evildoers and save me from bloodthirsty men.” PS. 59:1-2  May You use this near-death encounter to speak to the hearts of anyone who may have backslidden from You and may them re-commit to serving You with all of their heart, mind and strength.  May Your grace also be with the family of the suspect who lost his life.  O’ Lord, may Your protecting hand continue to be upon every law enforcement officer across America.  Finally Lord, we do not know why Your peacemakers are being attacked in the southeast part of the U.S., we will do as Your word says and seek your protection for every officer by saying, “I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am (we are) saved from my (our) enemies.”  This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
