Praying for the San Bernardino (CA) Police Department in the on-duty fatality of Officer Bryce Hanes

Our Gracious Lord, whenever a fellow officer loses his life in the line of duty, there are those of us who take this loss especially hard. And as this loss has affected many whom I personally know to include my two children with San Bernardino P.D., we come boldly before Your Throne of Grace to reach out to You, our Savior and Lord for comfort and mercy. We, first, want to lift up the men and women of the San Bernardino Police Department as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss of a dear co-worker and friend. As this department is still reeling from the near loss of Officer Gabe Garcia last year, we know this loss will affect many ever so deeply. So Lord, we ask You to reach out to every officer and co-worker and may a supernatural touch of the Master’s Hand rest on their hearts and minds to comfort them as only our Heavenly Father can. May each co-worker sense Your amazing grace and strength carrying them through this very difficult time of loss. May You use this tragedy to bring the men and women of the San Bernardino Police Department ever so close in the bonds of love. May Your amazing grace especially touch the wife and children of Officer Hanes and may they sense Your presence, Your grace and Your everlasting comfort carrying them through this very difficult time. And as the department must now begin the process to say a final farewell to their fallen comrade, may You grant the leadership with extraordinary wisdom to make these final preparations. Lord, as we know tragedies like this can cause emotional trauma, may Your amazing grace preserve the hearts of every officer and prevent them from enduring any short-term or long-term emotional trauma. Lord, whenever there is a tragic loss, we know the hearts of many are deeply saddened and broken. But as we know You are our King of Kings and Lord or Lords, we know you are intimately familiar with grief and sorrow and can comfort those with a supernatural love. So, Lord, may You pour out your grace upon anyone grieving and mourning. May You use this tragedy to speak to the hearts of any officer who may have strayed from Your side and may You draw them back into Your arms of loving kindness and mercy and forgive their backslidden condition. Thank you for the forgiveness of sins and especially for the fact that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. May many officers and family members be drawn to the love of Your Son in whom there is everlasting life. May many officers know that now is the acceptable time—that NOW is the day of salvation. May many officers receive You into their hearts to be their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
