Our Father in Heaven, on behalf of law enforcement officers everywhere, we thank You, Lord, for Your Amazing Grace. We thank You for sparing the lives of Deputy Douglas and Officer Mood who were both injured in different states and under different circumstances. We therefore come boldly before Your Throne of Grace to lift them both into Your gracious and loving arms. We thank you so much Lord that Deputy Douglas’ life was spared because of his Kevlar vest. As the news reports he likely has a rib fracture, we know this pain will be a constant reminder of his near-death encounter. We also want to lift Officer Mood into Your Presence and thank You for her progress from her involvement in this serious on-duty collision. As Deputy Douglas and Officer Mood are both surrounded by their families and co-workers, we ask You to pour out Your grace, love, peace and mercy upon them as they both recover from their injuries. We are thankful the suspect who shot Deputy Douglas was taken into custody so that no other law enforcement officers will be hurt. And if the person who caused this collision was intoxicated, may that person be brought to justice, too. As we know traumatic incidents like these can cause emotional trauma to them, we ask you to pour out Your Holy Spirit on them and prevent them from enduring any short-term or long-term trauma. And Lord, if Deputy Douglas or Officer Mood have strayed from Your side or if they do know You personally, may they recognize that Your word says that Now is the Day of Salvation and that Your word says to “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” May You reveal to them the Love of Your Son and may they and many others receive You as their savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
