Spoken Words

Every law enforcement officer knows the power of spoken words especially when they tell someone, “You’re under arrest”.  But have you ever seen what the bible says about spoken words?  Check this out:

  • Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29(NKJV)
  • My mouth shall speak wisdom, And the meditation of my heart shall give understanding. Psalms 49:3(NKJV)
  • But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. James 3:8-9(NKJV)
  • He who answers before listening— that is his folly and his shame. Proverbs 18:13(NIV)
  • Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. Psalms 141:3(NIV)
  • The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. Psalms 37:30(NIV)
  • But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37(NIV)
  • May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalms 19:14(NIV)
