At some point in a law enforcement officer’s career, everyone will be subjected to administrative discipline ranging from an oral rebuke to suspension or termination. But did you know discipline is really an important, effective and necessary corrective tool if properly understood and applied? Check out how it is used in the bible:
- A servant will not be corrected by mere words; For though he understands, he will not respond. Proverbs 29:19(NKJV)

- Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul. Proverbs 29:17(NKJV)

- To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child. Proverbs 29:15(NLT)

- No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. Hebrews 12:11(NLT)

- Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them. Proverbs 13:24(NLT)

- Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. Hebrews 13:17(NLT)
