Praying for the Connecticut State Police in the on-duty flood-related fatality of a Sergeant

Our Merciful Lord, our hearts are broken as we mourn with the men and women of the Connecticut State Police Department in this tragic loss of one of their sergeants. Lord, we come into Your Presence on behalf of the entire Connecticut State Police Department to seek Your mercy and grace to settle upon them as they cope with this difficult loss of a dear friend and co-worker caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. We especially lift the entire family of this fallen sergeant and ask You to wrap Your arms of loving kindness around them as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to be able to gather the facts surrounding this loss and prevent future tragedies. Lord, as there are countless law enforcement officers across America assisting those in need during this storm, may You continually protect surround them with Your Protecting Arms at all times. May Your grace, comfort, presence and mercies touch the many paramedics, firefighters and medical personnel who were involved in trying to save this officer. As we know traumatic events like this can cause emotional trauma to surface for many officers and first responders, may Your grace preserve every person’s hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. As there are some who have been deeply affected by this loss, may they know Your word says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” And, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” So, Lord, may those grieving ever so greatly know they can always cast their cares upon You for You care for them. May You bring about good through this tragedy. And as the men and women of Connecticut State Police Department will now be making preparations for a final farewell for their fallen comrade in the coming days, may many hear the good news for the first time, and may many receive Your Son into their hearts as their savior and Lord. May anyone who may have strayed from Your path, be drawn back to Your side. May You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to be a representative of Your love and mercy. Finally, may You turn this loss of a dear friend and co-worker into a time of remembrance and Joy, in the name of Jesus we Pray, Amen.
