Our Father in Heaven, our hearts are broken once again Lord, as we grieve with the men and women of the Memphis Police Department in the on-duty fatality of Officer Darrell Adams. May You, Lord, wrap Your arms around the law enforcement officers who were at that scene as we know this has deeply affected them at this tragic loss of a dear friend and co-worker. May the many first responders who went to that collision scene, intimately sense and know Your love, grace, peace and mercy carrying them through this very difficult time of loss. We ask You to especially place Your loving arms around the family of Officer Adams as we know they are in deep pain at this sudden loss of their loved one. May they know Your word says, "He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him." As we know the only thing that can bring them solace is Your Amazing Grace in their hearts, we ask You, Lord, to also pour out Your Peace that passes all understanding upon them to guard their hearts and minds in Your Loving Presence. Lord, as there are thousands of law enforcement officers across the U.S. driving police cruisers and protecting the public right now, we ask for Your hands of protection to continually be upon them and keep them safe from all harm and danger. May You, Lord, grant the investigators wisdom to piece together the facts from this incident. Most importantly Lord, may the men and women of the Memphis Police Department and allied law enforcement agencies know that You will always their Fortress, Strength and especially a Refuge in times of trouble. And as the Memphis Police Department will begin to make preparations for a final farewell service to their fallen comrade, may You use this as an occasion for those who’ve strayed from Your path to re-dedicate their hearts and lives to You. May they know they can always cast their cares upon You because You care for them. Lord, may You raise up chaplains and other Godly officers to provide hope and grace to many hurting hearts. May many know that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” O’ God, bring comfort to the hearts of so many who are broken right now. Finally, may many other officers, friends and family members hear the Good News and be given an opportunity to invite You into their hearts and receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
