Our Gracious Lord, today is a very difficult day for the Independence County Sheriff’s Department in the on-duty fatality of Deputy Frank Ramirez and for Blair County Corrections in the on-duty murder of Rhonda Jean Russell. O’ Lord, right now, it is only Your amazing grace that can truly carry the men and women of these law enforcement agencies through this very difficult and emotional time. May Your wisdom be poured out upon the investigators who are looking into the details surrounding these incidents and grant them insight to gather the facts in both tragic cases. May Your grace, mercy, love and comfort especially touch the family of Deputy Ramirez and Officer Russell as they cope with this sudden and tragic loss of their loved one. May You hold them ever so closely to Your Side where they may sense Your peace in the middle of this difficult storm. As we know many other law enforcement officers and first responders had to witness these very difficult scenes, we ask for a touch of the Master’s Hand to be upon every one of them and may they know just how much You love them and will carry them through this valley of the shadow of death. May Your grace preserve the hearts and minds of those struggling from enduring any long-term emotional trauma. May You use each tragedy to cause many other deputies, officers and family members to examine their hearts and be drawn to Your love. May many know Your word says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” And, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” O’ Lord, as the Independence County Sheriff Department and Blair County Corrections must begin the process to prepare a final farewell to their fallen comrades, may You raise up Godly deputies, officers and chaplains to be a light to others at this dark time. Finally, may anyone who has strayed from Your path, recommit their lives to You and may they be used for Your Glory. May many come to receive You as their Savior and Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
