Our Father in Heaven, the pain is immense and indescribable as we join with the men and women of the Baltimore Fire Department as they in deep mourning as they grieve the loss of three co-workers who were fighting a fire. O’ Lord, we come boldly into Your Presence to seek Your mercy and grace to settle upon the critically injured firefighter who is fighting for his life. Spare his life, O’ God. May You raise up the correct medical specialists who can identify his injuries and apply the correct treatment and bring about a full recovery. As we know these deaths have affected so many co-workers ever so greatly, we know only Your love, grace, mercy, peace and comfort can sustain their hearts and souls as they go through this very difficult time of mourning. May they intimately sense Your Presence and Your Strength carrying them through this time of loss as they must now prepare a final farewell for their fallen comrades. And as the family members of these fallen firefighter are in obvious mourning and deep sorrow, may Your Holy Spirit be with them and give them strength to carry them through the coming days for Your word says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” May each family come to deeply sense Your Presence in their hearts and souls for You said You would never leave us nor forsake us. May You grant the fire investigators with wisdom from on high to investigate this incident and gather facts surrounding this horrific loss. May You use this tragedy to draw firefighters across America to be aware of their mortality and to come to know You in a personal way. In the coming days as the men and women of the Baltimore Fire Department make preparations to say a final farewell to their fallen comrades, may You use raise up chaplains and Godly firefighters to be a light to the world in the midst of this tragedy. May Your good news be clearly presented to those in need and may any firefighter, friend or family member be given an opportunity to know Your amazing love and peace and receive Your Son into their hearts to receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. May Your word bring comfort to those in need, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” May many take to heart that your word says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” May You take this tragedy and bring about good to the entire firefighting community.
