Our Father in Heaven, We come into Your presence Lord to mourn this tragic loss of a Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy intentionally struck by a vehicle during a pursuit. As this loss has deeply affected the entire Knox County Sheriff's Department so deeply, we come before Your Throne of Grace to lift each of them into Your arms of love. May Your grace, peace, mercy and comfort especially touch the family of Your fallen servant as they must cope with this tragic loss. May Your amazing grace, mercies, love and comfort also touch the men and women of the Knox County Sheriff's Department and sustain them with Your presence and comfort as they cope with this loss of a dear friend and co-worker. May Your grace also touch the many law enforcement officers, paramedics, firefighters and other first responders who assisted in this highly emotional scene and draw them close to Your heart. As we know this traumatic incident can cause short-term and long-term emotional trauma, may Your amazing grace and comfort sustain them from enduring any emotional fallout. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to effectively investigate and determine the facts surrounding this collision in which the suspect waws later arrested. And as the Knox County Sheriff's Department must now begin to prepare for a final farewell to their fallen comrade, may You use this service to point many to Jesus Christ. May You raise up Godly officers and Chaplains to be a presence to those hurting and bring peace to them in the middle of this storm. May these words ring true in the hearts of many, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” O’ God, may those mourning be comforted by Your presence and grace and may many be drawn to the love of Your Son, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
