Our Merciful Father, our hearts and spirits are numb as there is no way to express the sorrow and grief so many are experiencing at this horrific loss of these two on-duty El Monte Police Officers. As we know the pain the families of both officers are going through is ever so great, we lift them, Lord, before Your Throne of Grace and ask You to wrap Your Arms of Love around them to support them through this most difficult time of loss. May Your amazing grace and Your Presence surround every member of the El Monte Police Department as we know there are many who are deeply brokenhearted at the loss of their dear friends and co-workers. O’ Lord, it is Your Presence we seek to uphold them and the many allied law enforcement officers affected at this senseless loss of Your Peacemakers. May Your following words resonate in the hearts of many in mourning and grieving ever so greatly: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” As investigators investigate this crime, may You grant them grace, wisdom and mercy as this will be very difficult to investigate when the victim is a fellow law enforcement officer. We also ask You to pour out Your amazing grace upon the paramedics, doctors and other first responders who aided in treating these peacemakers. We are also thankful the suspect is no longer a threat. May those who’ve been emotionally and/or spiritually challenged from this attack on their co-workers know, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” We ask You Lord, to raise up Godly officers and chaplains to be a representative of Your light and peace at every turn. And as the El Monte Police Department will now be having to make preparations to say a final farewell to their fallen comrades in the coming weeks, may You use this as a time to draw many men and women unto the love of Your Son in whom there is forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. May many come to know Your Peace for Your Word says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.“ And, “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. “ O’ Lord, continue to comfort the families of these fallen servants and may You bring about good through this senseless and tragic loss, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
