Our Merciful Lord, it with a deep sense of urgency that we come boldly into your Presence to lift up Bowie County Lt. Scott Lillis into Your loving arms. As news reports he was shot in the face and has lost an eye, we seek Your presence, grace and healing power to immediately settle upon him right now. O’ Lord, because You alone are our Rock and our Fortress and our ever-present help in times of trouble, we earnestly come before your Throne of Grace to ask You to supernaturally touch this peace officer. As he continues to be treated at a trauma center, may You continue to provide the needed medical specialists and doctors with wisdom to continue to apply any needed surgical treatment and medications to save this peacemaker’s sight. As we know the family of Lt. Lillis is at his side and are supporting and loving him, we seek Your amazing grace to sustain them through this very difficult time. Lord, may your sustaining grace, peace and mercy touch the hearts and souls of the men and women of the Bowie County Sheriff’s Department as they rally to support their wounded comrade and his family. Continue to pour out Your wisdom on the medical staff to effectively treat Your wounded servant. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the facts of this incident in which the suspect was later found dead. As other deputies were likely present and had to witness his partner to be wounded, we know that they can be affected mentally, emotionally and spiritually. May Your amazing grace prevent any officer from enduring any short-term or long-term affects upon his heart and mind and may he be drawn unto Your side where Your grace is abundant. May Your words as follows speak to the hearts of so many in need, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ; and “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” O’ God, may You carry Lt. Lillis through this time of uncertainty. So, Lord, as Lt. Lillis continues to be treated, may You raise up chaplains and other Christian peace officers to bring comfort to those in need. May many come to know and intimately experience Your grace and mercy in their hearts and souls. O’ Lord, continue to touch and heal Your servant, this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
