Our Merciful and Gracious Lord, it was 21 years ago today that America suffered the loss of multiple Americans at the World Trade Center and on its’ anniversary, our hearts are again broken and spirits heavy as we grieve with the Arvada Police Department in the on-duty murder of Officer Dillon Michael Vakoff. Lord, we, therefore, come ever so boldly and needy before Your Throne of Grace as we lift up the men and women of the Arvada Police Department as they are grieving the loss of one of their own co-workers. First and foremost, Lord, we ask You to pour out Your Amazing Grace on them and may it be Your Presence and Love sustaining them at this horrific tragedy. We especially lift up Officer Vakoff’s partner who was present when this incident occurred. May Your mercies and grace additionally uphold Officer Vakoff’s family who are in deep mourning at this loss. May You grant the investigators supernatural insight and wisdom to gather the facts and details of this crime upon one of Your servants. May your peace that transcends all comprehension be made ever so real in the heart of the entire Arvada Police Department and many allied law enforcement agencies involved in that incident. As Your word says to cast all our cares on You for You care for us, we come to You, Lord, on behalf of the men and women of the Arvada Police Department and entire law enforcement community and seek You love, grace, peace mercy, Presence and comfort to settle upon their hearts and spirits. As a result of this tragedy, may You draw many officers and others to seek your Son for peace, mercy, grace and strength. May these words comfort many broken hearts, “The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” In the midst of this tragedy, we know the men and women of the Arvada Police Department must begin the difficult task of preparing a final farewell to their fallen comrade. May Your mercies and grace guide them and may You use this farewell service to cause many to be drawn unto Your Son in whom there is eternal life. Finally, may You raise up Godly officers and chaplains to be representative of Your Son and aid many who have broken hearts. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. May all know that the Joy of the Lord will be their strength before, during and after that that it will be You, Lord, who will carry them through these difficult days, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
