Our Father in Heaven, we come into Your Presence again, Lord, to lift up Sergeant Joseph Wells who was intentionally struck with a vehicle. As the news reports he is in critical condition, we seek Your healing touch to be upon him. We thank You for sparing his life and ask You, Lord, to empower the doctors and medical professionals with wisdom to be able to accurately and swiftly diagnose his injuries and apply the appropriate treatment. May Your mercies, presence, comfort and grace touch him and sustain him with Your Arms of Love. May he make a full recovery in body, spirit and mind. May You grant the investigators wisdom as they investigate this attack on this officer. May Your amazing grace especially descend upon the family of Sergeant Wells and his colleagues as they are rally around him to love and support him at this very emotional time. Lord, as we know this incident will affect many co-workers and friends, may Your grace and love surround them and hold them ever so tightly in Your Hands. May You raise up chaplains and other Godly law enforcement officers to be a beacon of light to this injured peace officer and any others who were who were present when this incident occurred. May Your grace and comfort additionally touch the many paramedics, doctors and first responders who treated this Sergeant Wells. And if he does not know You personally, may You remove the scales from his eyes and heart and reveal to him the love of Your Son in whom there is everlasting life. O’ Lord, let Your peace that passes all understanding settle in the hearts of this injured officer, his family and in every member of the Edmonds Police Department. May these words bring comfort to those in need, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” And, “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Lord, preserve the hearts and minds of anyone affected and spare them from any short-term or long-term emotional trauma. May You use this near-tragedy Lord, to open the hearts of many to know and receive the salvation of Your Son in whom there is everlasting life. May You use this to draw many who have fallen away from You and may You welcome them back into Your arms of Loving kindness, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
