Lord Jesus, we come into Your Presence to lift up a wounded Lakewood Police Officer who was shot on-duty. As the news reports indicate his wound was not considered life-threatening, we thank you that his life was spared and now ask you, Lord, to grant the doctors and other medical professional’s wisdom and insight in order to effectively treat and completely restore this officer to full health. May you especially settle your peace, grace and love upon the family of this wounded officer as they rally around him to love and support him as he undergoes treatment. May your grace also extend to the men and women of the entire Lakewood Police Department who are deeply concerned for their friend and co-worker. May your peace that passes all understanding guard the hearts and minds of every member of the department. May Your grant the investigators wisdom to gather the facts surrounding this encounter in which one suspect died. Although one suspect escaped, we are thankful that second suspect was located and arrested. May the members of the Lakewood Police Department be granted an extra measure of Your Grace and Mercy as they cope with this attack on one of their co-workers. As we know incidents like this can cause emotional trauma in the present and in the future, we therefore ask you, Lord, to send your endless mercies upon this wounded peacemaker and the other officers and first responders who were initially at that incident and may You preserve their hearts and minds in You. May every member of the Lakewood Police Department know Your word says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” May many officers and family members be granted Your peace that passes all understanding and be given an opportunity to know the Love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, this we ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.
