Our Father in Heaven, Because Your word tells us You are our Rock, Fortress and an ever-present help in times of trouble, we earnestly come before your Throne of Grace to lift up the entire Quebec Provincial Police Department as they are in deep mourning in the loss of their dear friend and co-worker, Sgt. Maureen Breau. Lord, may your sustaining grace, peace, comfort, Presence and mercy touch the hearts and souls of the men and women of the Quebec Provincial Police as they are in shock at this sudden loss. May your love, peace, mercy and grace especially be with Sgt. Breau’s family as they endure this great loss as they are mourning and grieving ever so greatly. May You grant the investigators wisdom and insight to piece together the facts of this tragic incident in which the suspect was subsequently shot and lost his life. As this tragedy has deeply affected several officers who were present when this occurred, may they know the comfort of Your word as follows, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” As the members of the Quebec Provincial Police will now have to begin to make preparations to say a final farewell to their dear friend and co-worker, may the power of your Holy Spirit settle upon each officer and grant them strength in their hearts, minds and spirits. May the love of Jesus be made real to each of them. May every officer, family member and friend intimately know that no matter what, You will never leave them nor forsake those who love you and have received you into their hearts. O’ God, comfort them with Your Love and Grace. May they know that You do not want anyone to perish but to come to repentance in You alone. May many be drawn to the Cross of Christ where there is mercy and grace. May your comfort settle upon every member of the Quebec Provincial Police and their family members. Hold them so very close to your heart. May You raise up chaplains and other Christian officers to bring comfort to all. Lastly may your word resonate in the hearts of many as follows, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”; this we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
