Our Merciful Heavenly Father, our hearts are broken and spirits heavy as we grieve with the Marion County Sheriff’s Dept in the on-duty murder of Deputy John Durm. Lord, we, come ever so boldly and needy before Your Throne of Grace as we lift up the men and women of the Marion County Sheriff’s Dept as they are grieving the loss of one of their own co-workers. First and foremost, Lord, we ask You to pour out Your Amazing Grace on them and may it be Your Presence and Love sustaining them at this horrific tragedy. May Your mercies and grace additionally uphold Deputy Durm’s family who are in deep mourning and grieving ever so greatly at this loss of a husband and father. We are thankful that the suspect has been arrested and ask You to grant the investigators with supernatural insight and wisdom to gather the facts surrounding this attack. May your peace that transcends all comprehension be made ever so real in the heart of the entire Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the many other law enforcement officers involved in that incident. As Your word says to cast all our cares on You for You care for us, Lord, we come to You on behalf of the men and women of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and entire law enforcement community and seek You love, grace, peace mercy and comfort be poured out upon them. May You cause this tragedy to draw many officers and others to seek your Son for peace. In the midst of this incident, we know the men and women of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department must begin the task of preparing a final farewell to their fallen comrade. May Your mercies and grace guide them, and may many be drawn unto Your Son in who can provide them a peace that passes all understanding. May many be comforted with Your words as follows, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” May they know that the Joy of the Lord will be their strength carrying them through this dark valley, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
